The aim is to assist you in the help of removing a Vauxhall Vivaro injector.
I recently had 2 of the injectors in my van go faulty and the problem I had trying to firstly get a garage to undertake the job for a reasonable price and the scare stories on the internet about them being seized etc had me in a panic.
This is why the injectors seize in they flood
with water which is a design fault
So I would firstly like to state yes changing the injectors is a job that is a ball ache - but not impossible to do yourself for a fraction of the cost of a garage or getting a injector removal to do the removal for you.
I paid a firm to have the injector pulled out and replace and it cost me £520. + vat , costly or what only to find 3 weeks later another injector went down, I was devastated beyond belief, however I set out to do the job myself which I did in 4hrs and for a total cost of £162 which was for parts being the injector and tool to pull injector this is how I did it.
Before you start to remove the injector you will need the following parts / tools
1. New injector (available at a good prices here at m9r injector 2nd hand) or brand new - i found buying 2nd hand your not 100% they work and you will end up refitting again.

Please note this blog is for information only, if you choose to undertake the works yourself you are responsible for the outcome, as the author I take no responsibility for your actions, occasionally the injectors may be seized in too much and will snap on removal. But this doesn't mean they cant be removed it Just means you will have to pay to have it removed by a professional at an additional cost.

Removing the injector
The van I changed injectors in was a 57 ctdi vivaro
when you first open the bonnet you will be faced with a range of parts sitting on top of the injectors. you need to remove all of the obstructing parts. (Haynes manual will help here).
Note --- Before you try to remove the injector it is a must that you spray the top of the injector as it enters into block, the best spray on the market is Torison (spanner in a can) its used by all the main dealers when removing injectors as helps to break down any seized parts. its not cheap but the main ingredient in a successful removal- available here.Envirotec Industries Torsion Plus or you can use the comma release as shown in parts above which is slightly cheaper and easier to obtain.
Torsion (spanner in a can)
Removal tool (required required) as above.
1. With the injector you wish to remove on show you will need to assemble the removal tool.
undo the injector clamp bolt and the two small nuts in the block either side of injector which will allow the injector tool to be clamped down. see pic
2. With the tool assembled and the pull rod connected to top of injector(as pic below), and through pin put through the bar, its simple a case of elbow grease and strength, by connecting a suitable 30mm rachet to the top of pull rod injector tool and pulling it in small amounts to wind the thread up the tool - which in turn slowly pulls up the injector.
NOTE.... this take some force to pull the injector up and really put a sweat on my head.
3. its important to keep winding the threat up so he injector moves up slowly - I kept spraying the top with the torsion spray and had 10 mins rest whilst it penetrated down he injector as it moved. eventually the injector will be easy to wind and you will then need to disassemble the injector puller tool and remove the injector from thread by hand.
4. With the old injector removed you will then need to clean the area hole in which I came out from do this with a clean rag- its also important to note if the flame retardant copper washer came out with the injector if you will need a long thin piece of wire to fish it out.
5. Refitting the new injector is easy - apply a good coat of copper paste to side of injector and fit a new copper flame retardant washer to tip and push the injector into hole and clamp it in place with bolt which you removed earlier.
6. Its important to take a note the number/letter on the head of injector at this point as you will need them after for recoding the injector to engine later . as pic below
